ACP Murder Mystery

 
 

This „murder mystery“ event game took place in a scenic little château. One of the design goals consisted in making the game “casual”, so guests could decide to play, not to play or to drop in or out any time. Forcing people to play a game who would rather just drink and socialize would defeat the purpose of the game: to create a pleasant atmosphere. Thus the game mechanism has to work regardless of players leaving and entering the ongoing game.   This kind of challenge goes against the idea that games have to be immersive. Sometimes it is more suitable if they are transitory or ephemeral, which connects with the idea of play. I designed the game and worked with artists and designers to create props and printed material for the game.
